Lines and MotionLíneas y movimiento

A star's light has dark lines in it at wavelengths that belong to its atoms. You will name the lines in real SDSS spectra, predict what a star's motion does to them, and measure it: the shift of a line on a synthetic spectrum, turned into a speed with its uncertainty, and the moment a shift is too small to mean anything. A sideways motion leaves no mark at all. Quantitative depth adds the relativistic formula, the weighted mean of two lines and the equivalent width; advanced depth measures a real star's velocity from its own lines and checks it against the SDSS catalog.

AccessibilityAccesibilidad

The interface is operable from the keyboard, including the investigations, the measuring tools and the dialogs, which trap focus and return it. Measurements and state changes are announced through a live region, and the canvas carries a text description of what is on it that updates as the system evolves. Automated checks (axe-core) and a set of manual keyboard walkthroughs run in continuous integration on every change.

Interface animation follows the operating system’s reduced-motion setting. Four themes are provided, including a light one built for projectors and a high-contrast dark one. Nothing on this page moves until you ask it to.La animación de la interfaz respeta la preferencia de movimiento reducido del sistema operativo.
