The Expanding UniverseEl universo en expansión
Hubble found that galaxies recede faster the farther they are, and the slope of that line is the Hubble constant. You will fit a line through the origin to Hubble’s own 24 nebulae and to real supernovae of the Dark Energy Survey, see why his slope was six times too large, watch the slope fall from 66 to 59 as the sample reaches farther, and say what that means for a line.

What students will be able to doLo que el estudiantado podrá hacer
- Fit a straight line through the origin to velocity against distance and read its slope as the Hubble constantAjustar una recta por el origen a la velocidad frente a la distancia y leer su pendiente como la constante de Hubble
- Say why Hubble’s own slope was about six times too large, and what the slope depends onDecir por qué la pendiente del propio Hubble era unas seis veces demasiado grande, y de qué depende una pendiente
- Show that the slope changes with the sample of galaxies, and say what that means for a single number called the Hubble constantMostrar que la pendiente cambia con la muestra de galaxias, y decir qué significa eso para un único número llamado constante de Hubble
- Say why a straight line stops being the right shape for distant galaxiesDecir por qué una recta deja de ser la forma correcta para las galaxias lejanas

AccessibilityAccesibilidad
The interface is operable from the keyboard, including the investigations, the measuring tools and the dialogs, which trap focus and return it. Measurements and state changes are announced through a live region, and the canvas carries a text description of what is on it that updates as the system evolves. Automated checks (axe-core) and a set of manual keyboard walkthroughs run in continuous integration on every change.
Interface animation follows the operating system’s reduced-motion setting. Four themes are provided, including a light one built for projectors and a high-contrast dark one.
