What Is a Gravitational Wave?¿Qué es una onda gravitacional?

Two objects circle each other on screen and emit no light at all. Over twenty-four short screens you work out what leaves them, what it does to anything it passes, and how an instrument could notice - and you learn to tell the three kinds of picture apart: the drawing, the calculation and the measurement. No equations, no prior physics, and it can be done with the sound off.

Thirty to forty minutes, and it can be the first thing a class ever does on this subject: it assumes only that things orbit. It is the first of a pair - Listening to Spacetime follows it and goes considerably further - but neither requires the other to have been completed, and this one is self-contained. It works as a single investigation, as the opening of a two-class unit, or as a remedial half-hour for students who found the advanced investigation too fast. Nothing in it needs sound.Thirty to forty minutes, and it can be the first thing a class ever does on this subject: it assumes only that things orbit. AccessibilityAccesibilidad

The interface is operable from the keyboard, including the investigations, the measuring tools and the dialogs, which trap focus and return it. Measurements and state changes are announced through a live region, and the canvas carries a text description of what is on it that updates as the system evolves. Automated checks (axe-core) and a set of manual keyboard walkthroughs run in continuous integration on every change.
