The Completeness CurveLa curva de completitud
A real survey fades out before its limit. You will weight each counted star by the volume in which it could have been seen, recover the luminosity function that went in to within its Poisson error, see when a correction cannot help, and measure the bias that remains when the correction uses the catalog’s own magnitudes.

What students will be able to doLo que el estudiantado podrá hacer
- Say what a completeness curve is, and what a raw count of the stars in a bin leaves outDecir qué es una curva de completitud y qué deja fuera una cuenta bruta de las estrellas de un intervalo
- Correct a luminosity function by weighting each counted star by the volume it could have been seen inCorregir una función de luminosidad ponderando cada estrella contada por el volumen en que pudo verse
- Judge a corrected value against its Poisson error, and say when the correction cannot helpJuzgar un valor corregido frente a su error de Poisson, y decir cuándo la corrección no puede ayudar
- Say what bias is left when the correction uses the catalog’s own magnitudesDecir qué sesgo queda cuando la corrección usa las magnitudes del propio catálogo
- State, for a corrected result, an assumption and a residual biasDeclarar, para un resultado corregido, un supuesto y un sesgo residual

AccessibilityAccesibilidad
The interface is operable from the keyboard, including the investigations, the measuring tools and the dialogs, which trap focus and return it. Measurements and state changes are announced through a live region, and the canvas carries a text description of what is on it that updates as the system evolves. Automated checks (axe-core) and a set of manual keyboard walkthroughs run in continuous integration on every change.
Interface animation follows the operating system’s reduced-motion setting. Four themes are provided, including a light one built for projectors and a high-contrast dark one.
