What a Spectrum Is Made OfDe qué está hecho un espectro

A cloud of thin gas can make dark lines, bright lines or none at all, and it can be the very same gas each time. You will predict what a cool cloud does to the light of a hotter source behind it, measure it in a model that puts a blackbody, a cloud and a detector in one line, and find what decides whether the lines come out dark or bright. Then you will meet it in the Sun's own spectrum and in the flash seen at an eclipse. Deeper, you will measure how much light a line removes and set a simple model of how many atoms can absorb against two real stars.

AccessibilityAccesibilidad

The interface is operable from the keyboard, including the investigations, the measuring tools and the dialogs, which trap focus and return it. Measurements and state changes are announced through a live region, and the canvas carries a text description of what is on it that updates as the system evolves. Automated checks (axe-core) and a set of manual keyboard walkthroughs run in continuous integration on every change.

Interface animation follows the operating system’s reduced-motion setting. Four themes are provided, including a light one built for projectors and a high-contrast dark one.
