Who Gets CountedQuién entra en la cuenta
A survey counts the stars that look bright, not the stars that are common. You will count a synthetic population at three magnitude limits, find what is in the part that is missed, and find how far a Sun-like star and a red dwarf can be and still be counted. You will say why a catalog of the brightest stars is not a census.

What students will be able to doLo que el estudiantado podrá hacer
- Say what a magnitude limit selects: the stars that look bright, not the stars that are commonDecir qué selecciona un límite de magnitud: las estrellas que parecen brillantes, no las que son comunes
- Measure how much of a synthetic population a survey counts at three limits, and what is in the part it missesMedir qué parte de una población sintética cuenta un sondeo con tres límites, y qué hay en la parte que pierde
- Find how far away a star of a given brightness can be and still be countedHallar a qué distancia puede estar una estrella de un brillo dado y aun así ser contada
- Explain why a catalog of the brightest stars has a different average brightness from the stars there areExplicar por qué un catálogo de las estrellas más brillantes tiene un brillo medio distinto del de las estrellas que hay
- Say why a count of what was found is not a census of what is thereDecir por qué una cuenta de lo que se encontró no es un censo de lo que hay

AccessibilityAccesibilidad
The interface is operable from the keyboard, including the investigations, the measuring tools and the dialogs, which trap focus and return it. Measurements and state changes are announced through a live region, and the canvas carries a text description of what is on it that updates as the system evolves. Automated checks (axe-core) and a set of manual keyboard walkthroughs run in continuous integration on every change.
