Design the ScheduleDiseña el calendario
You have eight nights and one star. Plan the run yourself in the live Radial Velocity panel, commit to a prediction, then observe two schedules side by side against the same star with the same instrument and the same noise — and watch one of them recover a Jupiter while the other cannot establish that the velocity changes at all. Then break your own result: change the seed, lose a fortnight to weather, and type a list of dates by hand, until you can say what a reported period has to carry before anybody else can check it.Tienes ocho noches y una estrella.

What students will be able to doLo que el estudiantado podrá hacer
- Configure an observing run by its times rather than only by its cadenceConfigurar una campaña por sus tiempos y no solo por su cadencia
- Commit to a prediction before observing, and say afterwards what the observation changedComprometerse con una predicción antes de observar, y decir después qué cambió la observación
- Explain what a spectral window peak near one means about a scheduleExplicar qué significa un pico de la ventana espectral cercano a uno
- Say why the same star, the same instrument and the same noise can give two different periodsDecir por qué la misma estrella, el mismo instrumento y el mismo ruido pueden dar dos periodos distintos
- Explain why one run of each schedule cannot establish that a schedule is betterExplicar por qué una sola campaña de cada calendario no puede establecer que un calendario sea mejor
- Describe what a gap in a run does to the result, and what it does notDescribir qué le hace un hueco a un resultado, y qué no
- State what a reported period has to be quoted with: the range searched, the schedule, and the seedEnunciar con qué hay que citar un periodo: el rango explorado, el calendario y la semilla

The hands-on companion to Can You Detect This Planet?, and best run immediately after it in the following lab period. That investigation makes the argument with an analytic planner in seconds; this one makes students do it for real on the live spectrograph, where a run takes minutes and cannot be rewound. It needs 35 to 40 minutes, most of which is observing time that a class can spend discussing predictions. It also works as a standalone experimental-design lab for any course that needs one, because everything it demonstrates is about the schedule rather than about exoplanets. The hands-on companion to Can You Detect This Planet?, and best run immediately after it in the following lab period. The interface is operable from the keyboard, including the investigations, the measuring tools and the dialogs, which trap focus and return it. Measurements and state changes are announced through a live region, and the canvas carries a text description of what is on it that updates as the system evolves. Automated checks (axe-core) and a set of manual keyboard walkthroughs run in continuous integration on every change.
